PUBWARN’S POSITION AND ROLE IN AIRPORT EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES
PubWarn’s position and role in Airport Emergency Communication Strategies
Airports have become much more important with the increasing need for transportation. With this increasing traffic, in addition to the need for air transportation, some needs have also arisen on the ground. As a result, airports are made up of several systems in which a vast number of people, planes, cars, and equipment interact. Because of the enormous number of actors that enable the airport to function, incidents or accidents occur airside regularly. Today, there is a wide range of possible occurrences; as a result, airports have created kinds and subtypes to categorize them together. Each category is generally assigned a code to help with identification while recording and retrieving event information. The definition and processing of events, like practically every other aspect of operational safety, is continually developing. There may be some emergencies and accidents both in the airspace and on the ground, as well as the command and coordination of their operational processes are important for airports. Some scenarios are shown below.
Ground operations :
The most customer-oriented operations since they oversee the daily activities within the terminals and parking lots, which is why they are commonly referred to as terminal operations.
- Guaranteeing airport security and a safe customer experience.
- Taking care of the halls.
- Maintaining roadways within the airport grounds.
- Overseeing properties surrounding the airport.
Airside operations :
This operation is directly responsible for inspecting the airspace. Two main groups are working to supervise the air inspection, ground crew and air traffic control.
Ground crew : It is in charge of managing the command in the landing operation and works to ensure efficiency on the ground.
- Management and response to accidents and emergencies
- Control of runways and roads
Air traffic control : In essence, this group is made up of control towers and air traffic controllers. This group is primarily in charge of managing airspace safety and regulating air traffic. The following are typical tasks
- Pilots need to be able to communicate with ground operators directly in order for critical flight information, such as weather and runway usage, to be relayed.
- Flight routes will change if weather conditions or other problems are found along the intended route.
Information management areas:
Daily flight information is gathered and disseminated by information management. Typical information management responsibilities include keeping track of the connection with airlines and storing seasonal and arrival/departure information. This division plays a crucial role in the organization of the flight schedule as well as the punctuality of flight arrivals and departures.
Therefore, a solid communication and coordination system is also required for an airport to operate well. Furthermore, airports that have an emergency plan must have a communication procedure in place in case of an airplane accident or a power loss at the airport. Many airports also offer notification lists for a range of other events, such as severe weather forecasts or other crises. Airport Operations are often the starter of the notification function. A notification system can be as simple as a list of phone numbers to be used in case of an emergency, or as sophisticated as a system that sends alerts through text, email, or phone. The system is important so that employees in the notification center know where the people receiving the alerts are, and they can coordinate their response accordingly.
Why PubWarn?
PubWarn is a public cloud based multitenant platform where companies and enterprises can prepare notification plans in case of emergency or in case of certain events. The complete process where a predefined scenario of notification will be activated and run either manually or triggered by an event is called an alarm. Alarm system is capable of doing mass call, sending mass SMS, emails and push notifications for mobile apps. Some features and benefits of PubWarn shown below :
Seamless Connection :
Send messages at the same time through text, mail, voice calls, social media, computerized signage, sirens, and desktop alarms through a single dispatch point.
Customizable alarms & roles :
With the PubWarn easy interface, admins can customize alarms, and assign alarms to groups or labels. As a result, it becomes easy to recognize the people who are sent alarms and to distribute tasks.
Automatic summary reports:
At the end of the alarm, an automatic summary report might be seen on user interface, the summary report will contain information about how many people have been reached and how long it took the alarm to inform entire recipients.
